Reeves' pronouncements are not meeting universal approval. Some big players in the Square Mile are deeply disappointed and fear that London as a financial centre could lose its allure if taxes are heaped on capital. Much of the same script was heard after the Brexit referendum and nothing serious happened. But there is disappointment at the dishonest content of Reeves' public spending audit and subsequent backing for private equity and wealth taxes.
