This Trans Teen’s Parents Tried To “Fix” Him By Sending Him To India
“My parents thought there was something wrong with me because I wasn’t living my life the way they wanted. I didn’t fit the mold,” Bhatt explained. “They told me that I would eventually get an arranged marriage to a man.”
On September 10, the Indian queer resource group Nazariya helped Bhatt escape his family. The activists also provided Bhatt with legal counsel and shelter.
That’s when things got complicated. Bhatt’s parents filed a complaint with the local police. Bhatt and supporters said his father, who he says is relatively wealthy and well-connected, used his power and influence to harass the activists.GIFS VIA.

EDIT 5: MOST UPDATED AS OF MAY 9TH 2015!
It is important to note that these infographs do not have every gender or sexuality as I had to leave multiple out due to either not recalling what they were at the time or lack of space. Some that have been pointed out to me as being missing that I highly suggest you look up are:
Bigender
Pangender
Graysexual/Grayromantic
I may make another infograph at a later point to include more genders and sexualities but I’m not sure if I will. Please reblog from the source post as it will always be the most updated version of this post. Thank you.
This woman was detained and told to leave the airport for being trans
Shadi Petosky just wanted out of Orlando, Florida. On Monday night, Petosky, a 35-year-old transgender woman, attempted to board a flight at Orlando’s International Airport when she was detained by the TSA. The reason? An “anomaly” — her genitals. The TSA does have a policy for treating trans fliers, but there’s just one problem with it.
The Canadian Senate has proposed an amendment to a transgender rights bill that would ban trans people from using the bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity. Now, trans people in Canada (and their trans supporters in the United States) are sharing photos on Twitter and Facebook of themselves in public bathrooms they would be legally obligated to use under Senator Donald Plett’s bill. Check the hashtags #PlettPutMeHere and #WeJustNeedToPee for a dynamite collection of trans folks showing why these laws are absurd. Badass. (via BuzzFeed)
ICYMI: The LGBTQ organization Have A Gay Day has launched a campaign in Dayton, Ohio to share informative and powerful messages about LGBTQ people on billboards around the city. There are 13 graphics in all, so next time you’re driving around Dayton, keep an eye out for them! (via the Gaily Grind, WYSO)
Spread this video like wildfire! Austin is a very sweet, very sensitive young man who was told to SUPPRESS who he is, and STAY IN THE CLOSET rather than lead an active, healthy life as a gay man. He was told this by his principal. This heartbreaking video needs to be seen, shared, and most importantly, it needs to inspire change! Help us do this, please!
