Directed by Lee Unkrich (*Monsters, Inc.*, *Finding Nemo*, *Toy Story 3*), Disney•Pixar's breathtaking film tells the story of Miguel, a 12-year-old boy with music in his soul (despite it being forbidden by his family) who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead. There, he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to help return him to his living family - and find out why music is banned in his family. A gorgeous, poignant tribute to family, tradition, and love, *Coco* is a compelling, moving watch for viewers young and old (and explores death in a way few children's films ever come close to).

**Pete's Dragon**

This 2016 remake of the 1977 classic somehow manages to maintain its endearing charm and whimsy. The story of an orphan's adventures with his best friend Elliot (a dragon) is enchanting and genuinely delightful. In an age where reboots seem to be more money-hungry than story-heavy, this film delivers a thoughtful story with a dedicated cast.

**Mulan**

This animated classic tells the story of Mulan, a young Chinese woman who goes to fight in the army disguised as a man in order to protect her weakened father from being called up to join.
