Who is Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card for?

The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card card is best suited for those who spend big on dining, entertainment and experiences. This is especially so for those who spend enough to more than offset the $95 annual fee. You'll typically need to send at least several hundred dollars (or thousands) annually for that to happen.

International travelers who don't already have perks with their other credits like no foreign transaction fees and travel accident insurance would also do well with this card. That being said, as a standalone card, it may not be enough for some, especially those who want to find a card to maximize all of their purchases. In this instance, the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card credit card may be best suited as one card in your overall rewards-earning arsenal.

Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card features

Cash back on spending categories

You can earn cash back on qualifying purchases in the following categories:

  • 10% cash back: Purchases on Uber and Uber Eats (through Nov. 14, 2024).
  • 8% cash back: Purchases on the Capital One Entertainment platform.
  • 5% cash back: Hotels and rental cars booked on Capital One Travel.
  • 4% cash back: Dining, entertainment and streaming services.
  • 3% cash back: Qualifying grocery stores (doesn't include retailers like Walmart).
  • 1% cash back: All other qualifying purchases.

Flexible rewards redemption

Your rewards don't expire as long as you have your credit card open and you can redeem in various ways. As it is a cash back card, you can redeem rewards by having a check mailed to you or as a statement credit. Cardholders can choose to set an automatic threshold as to when you'll receive rewards, either on a specific date or chosen manually.

Other redemption options include using rewards you earn to book travel on the Capital One Travel portal, gift cards and purchases.

Travel protections

Aside from no foreign transaction fees, this card offers other perks such as 24/7 travel assistance, concierge services and travel accident insurance. All of these features can make it attractive for frequent travelers, especially those who travel overseas.

Welcome bonus

Earn a one-time $300 cash bonus once you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. This is in addition to the cash back rewards you'll already have on these same purchases.

The fine print

The Capital One Savor Rewards credit card doesn't offer an introductory APR and the variable rate you receive will depend on factors such as your credit history and income. Those choosing to transfer their credit card balance from another card to this one will need to pay a 4% fee, based on the transfer amount. This fee only applies if Capital One offers you a promotional APR for the balance transfer.

Additional hidden perks

Cardholders have access to Capital One Entertainment, an online events portal that allows you to purchase and redeem rewards for tickets and experiences. Some of these events include VIP sports packages, premium seats for concerts and exclusive dining events.

Where the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card doesn't measure up

The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card credit card isn't a great fit for those who don't spend a lot on entertainment and dining out. While the cash back rewards are great — especially for purchases through Capital One Entertainment — you will need to be sure you spend enough to offset the $95 annual fee. Otherwise, there are other no annual fee cards that offer similar cash back rewards. Those looking for a more simple rewards earning structure may find the multiple categories this card offers overwhelming.
