The key thing to know about the Martin Short comedy, Clifford, is that it’s not about at lovable big red canine. It is, however, a real bowser. The stunt: The 42-year-old comic plays a precocious 10-year-old. But once you’ve gotten past the gimmick, the film falls short. D
