Ghostbusters: Rick Moranis says no

Rick Moranis is one of the few living actors from the original 1984 Ghostbusters film who will not cameo in Paul Feig’s forthcoming reboot.

The veteran actor, who hasn’t starred in a movie since 2006, told The Hollywood Reporter that he turned down an offer to cameo in the film because “it makes no sense to me.”

“Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?” he said.

Moranis, who essentially stepped away from the Hollywod limelight to raise his children after the death of his wife some 18 years ago, has no ill will towards the all-female reboot and “wishes them well.”

“I hope it’s terrific,” he added. In the original film, he played the nerdy accountant Louis Tully who becomes possessed by a ghost and turned into the Keymaster.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson will all appear in the reboot, due out July 15, 2016, though none are expected to reprise their original roles.
