Is Sherlock Holmes getting a little lovin’ in the new year?

EW has learned exclusively that Betty Gilpin has landed an arc on Elementary as a potential love interest for the dogged detective — and we have the first look!

The Nurse Jackie star will play Fiona Helbron, a brilliant and socially awkward software engineer, who meets Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) during a murder investigation. Fiona describes herself as “neuro-atypical,” though others might identify her as a high-functioning autistic. She has a hard time reading people, rigidly adheres to rules, and can’t lie.

Unsurprisingly, Fiona also has a lot in common with Sherlock — both are odd but gifted people navigating life on their own terms; kindred spirits who find themselves drawn to each other.

Gilpin will first appear in the episode slated for Jan. 21, and will return in at least one other episode.
