Chris Noth joins Tyrant as series regular

The Good Wife may be coming to an end, but Chris Noth won’t be leaving your TV screens anytime soon. The actor, best known for leading roles on the aforementioned CBS drama as well as HBO’s Sex and the City, will be joining the cast of FX’s political drama Tyrant for its upcoming third season.

Noth will play General William Cogswell, a U.S. military leader once stationed in the fictional country of Abbudin who is now returning to offer American support to provisional president Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner). A network release also teases that Cogswell has a romantic history with Leila (Moran Atias) that will reignite and help him rise to power.

At the end of the second season, Barry is reluctant to take his brother Jamal’s place as president of Abbudin, but does so after Jamal is shot. The season ends with Jamal’s survival in question.

The 10-episode third season will air on FX in 2016.
