Jussie Smollett is going to be having a big night Wednesday. The actor’s show, Empire, will be making its midseason premiere, and he is also starring in the evening’s episode of WGN’s slavery drama, Underground. His turn on Underground will mark the first time he’s acted with his sister Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who stars as runaway slave Rosalee, since their one-season TGIF sitcom, On Our Own, ended in 1995.

“To be able to be in not only a show with her, but a show that she’s doing that really, really means something is awesome,” Smollett said in a behind-the-scenes clip.

Smollett will play Josey, a runaway slave who will stop at nothing to get revenge on the people who separated him from his enslaved wife. The actor describes his character as a “rambunctious fighter.”

“He’s so good at this. I mean, he just got so in character,” Jurnee said of her brother.

Jussie’s episode of Underground will air Wednesday, March 30, at 10 p.m. ET on WGN America.
