Paul Simon won't reunite with Art Garfunkel: 'Out of the question'

Paul Simon last performed with his longtime collaborator Art Garfunkel in 2010 — and, according to new comments by Simon, the iconic duo seems unlikely to reunite again. In a Rolling Stone interview, Simon said a reunion with Garfunkel was “out of the question” because the two “don’t even talk.”

Garfunkel made incendiary comments about Simon to The Telegraph in May 2015, when he called Simon an “idiot” and a “jerk” and suggested the singer might have a Napoleonic complex. Despite being childhood friends and releasing multiple acclaimed albums, Simon and Garfunkel have had a fraught relationship over the years, reuniting and drifting apart multiple times since initially breaking up in 1970.

Simon will release his latest solo album, Stranger to Stranger, on June 3. The famed folk singer kicks off a tour Wednesday in New Orleans that culminates with two shows in Queens on June 30 and July 1 at Forest Hills Stadium — where he and Garfunkel played the final gig of their initial run on July 18, 1970.
