Justin Timberlake may be at Cannes Film Festival promoting his new movie Trolls, but he’s got much more on his mind than just his acting career. The multi-hyphenate revealed he’s motivated to record a new album in the time he’s not raising his one-year-old son Silas with wife Jessica Biel.

“I’m exploring making another album,” Timberlake said in an interview with TODAY. “Honestly, it was because of [making Trolls], getting back into the studio to work on music for this… It just kind of spilled over into, ‘Man, I’m really enjoying being back in the studio.'”

Timberlake serves as the executive music producer for the new animated film, and recently released his new single “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from the movie’s soundtrack. Timberlake’s last album, the two-part 20/20 Experience, was released in 2013, and he’s taken a step back from recording recently to focus on raising his 13-month-old son.

“The best thing I can do is try every day to give my kid perspective,” Timberlake said. “You think about the next five years, and the next five years after that. You think a lot about the lives that me and my wife lead. I wonder what privacy is going to mean in 20 years, but I think that’s something that you don’t have control over.”

Timberlake conducted the TODAY interview alongside his Trolls costar Anna Kendrick. Earlier in the week, the two surprised an audience at Cannes with a duet of “True Colors.” Kendrick shared the story of how their friendship started while recording Trolls — she erupted in a “string of profanity” over a flubbed lyric and Timberlake thought, “That’s my kind of person.”
