Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty are the newest members of The First Wives Club.
EW can confirm the How I Met Your Mother actress and the Smash alum have landed two of the three lead roles in TV Land’s pilot re-imagining the 1996 film that starred Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn as a trio of divorcees seeking revenge on the husbands who left them for younger women.
In the small-screen adaptation, which is set in present-day San Francisco, Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) will play Maggie, an English professor and aspiring poet who’s frustrated by her flagging marriage. Hilty (Smash) will portray Kim, a once-successful actress who has aged out of Hollywood but is still chasing stardom, while also raising an 8-year-old son.
The new First Wives Club is written by Rebecca Addelman (New Girl) and executive produced by Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City).
Deadline first reported the casting.
