Aziz Ansari had a proud son moment on Thursday — and he took to Instagram to share it.

The co-creator and star of Master of None saw a billboard touting his father, Shoukath Ansari, for an Emmy nomination and he posted a picture of it with the caption, “Never thought I’d see an Emmy billboard up for my dad.”

The show, which stars and was co-created by the Parks and Recreation vet, earned a great deal of critical praise upon its release last year, with many pointing to the elder Ansari as its breakout star. It was the first acting role for the South Carolina-based doctor.

After auditioning many actors to play his parents, Ansari decided to cast his own folks. His dad enthusiastically signed up, while his mom, Fatima Ansari, took some convincing. Back in November, after appearing on The Late Show with his father, Aziz Ansari shared some touching words on what it was like to work with his parents.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the Parents episode of our show,” he wrote on Instagram. “What’s strange is doing that episode and working with my parents has increased the quality of my relationship to my parents IN MY REAL LIFE. In reality, I haven’t always had the best, most open relationship with my parents because we are weirdly closed off emotionally sometimes. But we are getting better.”

Master of None has been renewed for a second season, which will debut on Netflix in 2017.
