Curb Your Enthusiasm to return for ninth season

Pretty, pretty, pretty — oh screw it, this is awesome.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is going to return to HBO for a long-long-long awaited ninth season, HBO revealed Tuesday.

Star and executive producer Larry David has had an open invitation to continue the comedy series on the premium network. The previous season of the show aired in 2011.

“We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can’t wait to see what he has planned,” said HBO programming president Casey Bloys.

Added David: “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’”

Interest in a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm has remained consistent online, but it spiked last week after costar J.B. Smoove was quoted in an interview as saying he had spoken to David about a possible season 9. David has also been in the spotlight lately thanks to his uncanny resemblance and impression of Sen. Bernie Sanders, and has been repeatedly made guest appearances on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Curb is HBO’s longest-running scripted series, with 80 episodes to date. The series also performed strong in the ratings, with the eighth season debut to a series-high 2.1 million viewers. There’s no word yet when the season 9 will air.
