He is the one who shocks… with casting news: Bryan Cranston will join the Power Rangers team.

The six-time Emmy winner and Oscar nominee will assume the role of Zordon, the Power Rangers’ mentor and nemesis of Rita Repulsa, in the new Power Rangers movie, it was announced on Tuesday. Cranston tweeted the news, noting that Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger, was named after him.

Shortly after, he received an official welcome from the Power Rangers twitter page.

The Breaking Bad alum has ties to the Power Rangers franchise, voicing Snizard and Twin Man on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series in the early ’90s.

Hitting theaters in March 2017, the film will chronicle the adventures of five high school students who must save the planet, which includes their town of Angel Grove, from alien destruction. Elizabeth Banks plays the alliteratively titled villain, Rita Repulsa, while the young cast includes Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy.

In May, Cranston starred as Lyndon B. Johnson in the HBO movie All The Way, an adaptation of the Broadway play, which landed Cranston the Tony for Best Actor in a Play. He also recently turned 60 years old, a milestone he celebrated in grand style on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
