Bob Saget remembered by Full House costars on second anniversary of his death

"To the best TV dad there ever was…"

John Stamos, Dave Coulier, and Jodie Sweetin are just a few of his costars who paid tribute to Bob Saget on the second anniversary of his death.

The late comedian, who died at 65 in 2022, was remembered by his closest friends and fellow Full House cast members in multiple heartfelt Instagram tributes published Tuesday.

In addition to their posts, the actors who portrayed Saget's sitcom family — including Stamos, Sweetin, Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, and Lori Loughlin — as well as Andrea Barber, who played their lovable next-door neighbor Kimmy Gibler, held an event online in which they shared memories of their time with him.

Stamos, who played the Full House rock star Uncle Jessie, posted several clips from the livestream of the Tanner family together again on Instagram, and admitted that the pain of losing Saget, who starred as beloved series patriarch Danny Tanner, has never gone away.

“Part of me wishes I wouldn’t get used to this feeling. To not think about it every minute means I’m getting used to him not being here,” he wrote. “But then, I know Bob would want me to get on with my life. Yet letting it drift away feels wrong too. It’s such a drag that death is a part of life.”

Stamos, who recounted his experience of learning of Saget’s death in his recent memoir, acknowledged that what he was going through was “all part of grieving “and “remembering someone who meant so much to me.” He added, “I guess what I’m trying to say is, I miss him. A lot. Every day. But I’m also grateful for the time we had, for the laughs, for the friendship. He was one of a kind, and I was lucky to call him my friend.”

He concluded, “I love you, baby. Thanks for being a part of my life.”

In her post, Sweetin, who played middle daughter Stephanie Tanner, shared a snapshot of her wearing a ‘Bob Saget’ hoodie and revealed that it still doesn’t feel real that he’s gone.

“Thinking of Bob (and his daughters and Kelly and the rest of my FH fam) today. Although to say I don’t think of him on most other days would be a lie,” she wrote. “I still expect to see your texts in the group chat. Or hear ‘Hey, by the way, it’s Bob,’ as if I didn’t know. To the best TV dad there ever was… You will always be missed…”

Coulier, who starred as Saget’s best friend, the comic Uncle Joey, posted a photo of the pair in an embrace outside the Full House victorian home in San Francisco. “Bob was always hugging me,” he wrote. “I sure miss those hugs. I sure miss Bob. I loved him so much.”

Barber paid tribute to both Saget and her late mother, who died on the same day a year apart, describing them as “two people who should still be here” in her own emotional post.

“I think about them every day, and today is certainly no exception. But I feel the loss deeply today,” she wrote. “I often wonder what they are doing up there right now at this very moment. It brings me comfort to think that they are spending time with the people *they* lost all those years ago.”

The actress also imagined what the pair would be doing in Heaven, saying Saget would likely be “hanging out with his sisters and parents, smoking a cigar.” She jokingly added, “Are there cell phones in Heaven? If so, Bob is definitely on one right now, telling someone how busy he is even in the afterlife.”

She concluded, “I hope they can feel how much love for them still resides here on Earth. ‘Grief is love with nowhere to go.’ So today I pour all of my love into remembering them, honoring them, and giving hugs to everyone I know.”

Alongside his Full House family, Saget’s friends John Mayer and Jeff Ross remembered the fiercely funny comedian.

“Two years ago today, the whole world lost Bob Saget. He was the tallest flower in the garden,” Mayer wrote. “His absence is like an ongoing presence. I’m never going to forget him. Love you, Bob.”

Ross wrote, “Bob was so funny. Can’t believe it’s only been two years today — feel like I haven’t talked to him in 10. Any favorite Bob memories ya’ll wanna share? I feel like reading some today.”
