The "Friends" star died suddenly in October, from acute effects of ketamine. He was 54.

The case of Matthew Perry's sudden death at 54 has officially closed.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that authorities' investigation into the Friends actor's passing has concluded. The L.A. County Medical Examiner's online database also lists the case as closed.

Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28 and pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, authorities said there was no indication of foul play.

Last month authorities disclosed that the actor's death was caused by "acute effects of ketamine." Drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects were also determined to be contributors to his death.

According to an autopsy report, Perry died from an "unknown route of drug intake," and the "main lethal effects" stemmed from "cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression." The report noted that Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion treatment but said the ketamine in his system could not have been from one of those sessions due to its short half-life.

A five-time Emmy nominee, Perry was best known for his role as the sardonic but sweet Chandler Bing on NBC's Friends, which became ratings hit and a cultural phenomenon during its 10-season run in the '90s and 2000s.

In 2022, Perry published a memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which discussed his career in show business and his struggles with addiction.

Perry was a beloved figure in Hollywood, and his untimely death prompted countless tributes from high-profile friends and colleagues, including Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Minnie Driver, Zac Efron, John Mulaney, and Sarah Paulson.
