Mark Hamill posts emotional Carrie Fisher tribute on anniversary of her death

Princess Leia Organa may be in a galaxy far far away, but her legacy on earth lives on forever.

On the one-year anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s death, Mark Hamill, her close friend and on-screen brother, tweeted a touching tribute honoring the Star Wars icon.

“No one’s ever really gone… #AlwaysWithUs #CarrieOnForever,” he wrote.

The tweet included a photo collage and the hashtags #AlwaysWithUs #CarrieOnForever, which quickly spread on Twitter, prompting other users to post their own tributes to the Star Wars princess.

Fisher died on Dec. 27, 2016, after suffering a heart attack during a flight from London to Los Angeles. She was 60 years old.

Despite her passing, the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise, The Last Jedi, features Fisher in her legendary role as Princess Leia, starring alongside Hamill as Luke Skywalker.
