Ryan Gosling delivers viral meme-worthy reaction to Mark Ronson's 'I'm Just Ken' Critics Choice Win

Ronson thanked Greta Gerwig for making space for the song so "boys could cry" too.

No matter what they do, they won't finish number two.

Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt took home Best Song at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards for Barbie anthem, "I'm Just Ken."

As Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos announced the power ballad's win, Ryan Gosling gave a very Ken, very meme-worthy deadpan look before standing and shaking his head to applaud Ronson and Wyatt's win for the song he sang.

Ronson was quick to acknowledge the Ken actor's role in the win. "Ryan Gosling, this is as much your award as ours," Ronson said. "You made the audience fall in love with this song with your matchless performance, so thank you."

He went on to thank the film's co-writer Noah Baumbach and star Margot Robbie, as well as, of course, director and co-writer Greta Gerwig. "The fact that you carved out 11 minutes for this prog-rock, power ballad, dream ballet, shred fest so the boys could cry and hold hands a little too, we're really forever in your debt for that," Ronson said.

Just as it did at the Golden Globes, Barbie claimed three of the six nominations for best song, with two going to tracks that Ronson co-penned. At the Golden Globes, Barbie grabbed a win as well, but for Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's "What Was I Made For?"

Other nominees at the Critics Choice Awards included Jack Black's "Peaches" from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Lenny Kravitz's "Road to Freedom" from Rustin, and the Julia Michaels-written song "This Wish" from Disney's Wish.

For its part, awards or not, "I'm Just Ken" has taken on a life of its own, with Ronson, Wyatt, and Gosling releasing alternate versions, a Pete Davidson-focused SNL parody, notable covers, and the original version charting on the Hot 100.

Despite the success of the song, Ken will just keep on being Ken, because it's Barbie's world.
