Showtime is going to stay Shameless.

On Monday, the network officially picked up the series for an eighth season, which will consist of 12 episodes and debut in 2017. The news comes after Sunday night’s season 7 finale and only days after star Emmy Rossum reached a new agreement to continue on the series.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress had been holding off on signing a deal for season 8, which served as a delay in the series being renewed. EW learned that after years of being paid less than her costar William H. Macy, Rossum was aiming for a raise that would put her ahead of her TV dad, considering his elevated pay over the first seven seasons.

Rossum agreed to a new contract last week, taking to Twitter Wednesday to share her excitement about continuing on the series, even though Showtime hadn’t officially issued a renewal.

Despite being seven seasons in, Shameless has only gotten stronger in age. The series, which is the network’s longest-running, just completed its highest-rated season, according to Showtime.
