Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith is not a lock to start in 2024 based on recent comments by head coach Mike Macdonald during a radio interview on Friday, March 8. Huddle Up: Smith came back down to earth in 2024 but his overall numbers weren't terrible, with the Seahawks signal-caller finishing as QB18 overall despite missing two games due to injury. Smith has a massive dead-cap number this year and cutting him wouldn't net any savings, so it looks like he'll be on the roster no matter what, barring a trade. As far as competition is concerned, the Seahawks don't have any on the roster and Smith's stiffest competition might come from a rookie if Seattle drafts a quarterback. The veteran would be considered the favorite to start in that situation and if he wins, Smith will enter 2024 as a QB2.
