This year, David Yurman celebrates 30 full years of its legendary cable collection. After learning welding from Ernesto Gonzales in Provincetown at just 16 years old, Yurman went on to study at the Art Students League in Manhattan in the 1960s. In 1965, he set up his own sculpture studio while working for Hans Van de Bovenkamp, and it was there he met painter Sybil Kleinrock, who became his wife, co-creator and business partner. In 1982, the Yurmans designed their first cable bracelet, a twisted helix in gold and silver with finial ends done in gemstones, which they launched as the Renaissance collection in 1983. The collection has since been worn by every imaginable celebrity — including Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain and Mindy Kaling — with its blend of easy elegance, modern feel and ancient sensibility. For the anniversary, the company has released a slew of limited-edition designs, from color-saturated aluminum Renaissance bracelets to fully-pavéd pieces in white, cognac or black diamonds.
