Baby Cafe Hong Kong Bistro Oakland

The Public Market Emeryville and Union City locations remain open, and the team is launching new eateries in San Leandro (details to come) and the Boston area, but the Oakland location of Baby Cafe Hong Kong Bistro has permanently closed after eight years in Chinatown. Mr. Liu Noodle House has already opened in the space. Thanks to a Nosh tipster for the news. Baby Cafe Hong Kong Bistro was at 358 11th St. in Oakland.

Dragon’s Pond Restaurant (temporarily closed through July 22)

A reader let us know that Walnut Creek’s Dragon’s Pond Restaurant for Hunan and Mandarin cuisine looked possibly closed for good, but a phone call to the restaurant reassured us that the dining room shuttering is temporary. A reopening date of July 22 (“with a warm smile”) is mentioned on the restaurant’s outgoing message; note, take-out and delivery orders are also suspended during the restaurant’s temporary closure. Look out for updates. Dragon’s Pond Restaurant is at 1353 Locust St. in Walnut Creek and is temporarily closed through July 22.

Yummy House/Face To Face/Hot Dog Stand

It has long been closed, but Nosh would like to acknowledge and bid written farewell to the former snack shack at 2109 Milvia Street in Berkeley that, we recently discovered, has been razed. We’re not sure of the year the hut that resembled a parking tollbooth was first opened as a food stall (or what date in recent months it was torn down), but it was, at some time or another over the decades, a Baskervilles, Little Gino’s, What’s Up Dog, District Dog, Tsunami Dogs, Face To Face beef noodle hut, and Yummy House snack shack. The wee, storied shed-like structure with window service is now a quiet square of leveled ground, ready for whatever construction will come next. The Milvia Street hot dog/snack hut was at 2109 Milvia St. in Berkeley.
