Sausage shock: Outrage erupts over eye-watering prices of Aussie BBQ classic

Festival-goers at Vivid Sydney were left outraged by the 'ridiculous' price being charged for a simple sausage sizzle.

The event, known for its dazzling light displays, returned to Sydney on May 24. However many attendees were left stunned at a food vendor charging $8.50 for a sausage with onions in bread.

One frustrated attendee shared a photo of the vendor's price list to Reddit, commenting: 'I've seen everyone talking about the crowds and not being able to see the drone show this year, but can we please talk about the price of a sausage in bread.

'I don't care what the reason is - $8.50 is disgusting.'

The sausage sizzle at Vivid Sydney, priced at $8.50, is over 325 per cent more expensive than the common $2 sausage sizzle found at fundraisers.

'Food stalls are almost never worth buying from,' a third said.

'For that price, you can buy sausages, bread and sauce yourself and have multiple sausage sandwiches,' a fourth added.
