Shocking moment small plane flips over after landing at Brazilian airport

  • A classical plane from 1931 crashed at an airport in Ponta Grossa, Brazil on Friday
  • The crash was caused by a strong wind gust and the pilot was not injured

Dramatic video footages shows the moment a decades-old plane somersaulted at an airport in Brazil.

A cell phone video shows the aircraft, built in 1931, landing on the runway when it flips over at Ponta Grossa Airport in Ponta Grossa, Paraná on Friday.

The biplane slides and tips over as the propeller touches the ground as onlookers gasp in the background.

The small aircraft then slams down on the pavement and comes to a full stop.

Fortunately, the pilot was not injured, airport superintendent Victor Hugo told Brazilian news outlet A Rede.

'Everything was fine,' Hugo said.

Airport investigators said the accident was caused by strong wind gusts.

The small plane suffered structural damages and was removed and placed in the hangar.

The aircraft is owned by WS Museum, an aeronautical museum located in the Paraná town of Curitiba.

According to its website, WS Museum offers guided tours, scenic flights and skydiving experiences.
