Democrats in Las Vegas give brutal assessment of Joe Biden's condition: 'He reminded me of my mother five years before she passed away'

Democratic voters in Las Vegas are still committed to voting for President Joe Biden – even though they are painfully aware of his mental decline.

Voters attending Vice President Kamala Harris' rally in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday told DailyMail.com that they are assessing whether they would be OK if she would need to take over for Biden, 81.

Many shared that they felt it was a binary choice in 2024 and that they would still vote for Biden if he were running from a nursing home because it would mean not voting for former President Donald Trump.

'He reminded me of my mother five years before she passed away,' Kat, 67, said when asked about Biden's disastrous debate performance. 'She passed away at the end of this past September and he reminded me of her for about five years before she passed away. He's on that downward trend, you know?'

Harris stepped out on the campaign trail this week as the Biden team continues damage control from the president's car crash debate against Donald Trump.

'We all knew his age when he was getting in here – and the presidency ages most people very, very fast. So, it's not surprising that he slowed down a little bit,' consultant Vivienne Bailey-Reid, 61, told DailyMail.com.

'I feel like she could run the country in the unfortunate event there's any reason that he would need to step down,' she added.

Many voters claim they are voting for the Democratic agenda instead of just looking at the man leading the ticket. While they also think it's 'too late' for Biden to exit the race, Harris is the only natural choice in their minds to take his place.

'I think it's too late,' retired minister Mark Lukens, 68, said.

He added: 'We'll support whoever they come up with. But at this point in time, I think I'd go with Joe Biden if he was phoning it in from a nursing home.'

The VP's first stop of the campaign swing week was in Las Vegas on Tuesday where she met with members of the U.S. Olympic basketball team before remarks at the launch of the group Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders for Biden.

Then on Wednesday she is the keynote speaker at a sorority event in Dallas, Texas before heading to the swing state of North Carolina for a campaign stop in Greensboro.

During her remarks in Vegas, Harris signaled her backing for Biden but did not directly address the calls for her to step in to lead the Democratic ticket in November.

'Now we always knew this election would be tough – and the past few days have been a reminder that running for President of the United States is never easy,' Harris said in defense of the incumbent president. 'But the one thing we know about our President, Joe Biden, is that he is a fighter.'

'And he is the first to say when you get knocked down you get back up. We all know – many of us know what that is. So we continue to fight and we will continue to organize and in November we will win.'

Peter, a 51-year-old bellman at Palazzo Hotel on the Vegas strip, told DailyMail.com: 'I will crawl through glass to vote for him.

'I love Joe Biden and the administration and I hate the clown – the other guy. I don't like him,' he said of the perceived binary choice in November. 'A lot of my friends say, 'oh, you're just voting for Joe Biden because you hate Trump.' But two things can be true at the same time.'

Laura Langford, 62, said that after the debate Biden 'should have stepped aside and let the next generation come in.'
