Is Elon Musk now promising his own sperm to provide life on Mars? Tesla and SpaceX billionaire 'wants to help kickstart intergalactic breeding programme'

  •  Billionaire Elon Musk has offered to use his sperm to colonise the Red Planet
  •  Suggestion partly comes from his belief people with high IQs should procreate
  •  Musk's obsession with Mars apparently began when he was just 10-years-old

Elon Musk wants to use his sperm to seed a colony on Mars, it was claimed last night.

The father-of-eleven and founder of SpaceX has offered to kick start the breeding programme to fulfill his lifelong goal of colonizing the Red Planet.

Mr Musk hopes his sperm will enable humans to have one million people living on Mars within 20 years.

It appears to be part of his belief that people with high IQs should procreate to solve humanity's underpopulation crisis.

Mr Musk had six children with first wife Justine Wilson, one of whom died in infancy; three with former girlfriend Grimes; and three with Shivon Zilis, an executive at his brain implant company Neuralink.

The children with Ms Zillis were reportedly conceived using Mr Musk's sperm, which he donated to her.

The claim, in the New York Times, is part of Mr Musk's obsession with Mars which began when he was 10 when he began reading science fiction.

Now aged 53 and with a fortune of $250 billion, making him one of the richest men in the world, he is stepping up plans to make it a reality.

Mr Musk has asked the SpaceX industrial design team to create renderings for a city on Mars with a giant dome for communal living and smaller domes around it.

Engineers have discussed what materials could be used for the structures and Mr Musk wants them to look 'cool'.

One drawing shows a family with young children looking up at the stars inside a dome.

According to the Times, in April Mr Musk told SpaceX staff that a Mars colony would be self-sustaining in case rockets from Earth couldn't reach it.

His Starship space vessel was going to be like 'Noah's Ark' and carry plants and animals on its first trip to Mars.

SpaceX has worked with Impossible, the plant-based meat alternative company, to provide food for the company's cafeteria.

The food is also functioning as a potential protein source for the Mars expedition.

Even Mr Musk's purchase of X, formerly Twitter, for $44 billion, is said to be an experiment in a government run by consensus, the New York Times said.

Speaking to Mr Musk's biographer Walter Isaacson, Ms Zilis said that she was very happy for Mr Musk to be her sperm donor.

She said: 'He really wants smart people to have kids, so he encouraged me to.

'If the choice is between an anonymous sperm donor or doing it with the person you admire most in the world, for me that was a pretty f****** easy decision.

'I can't possibly think of genes I would prefer for my children'.
