Melbourne: Shock courtroom outburst by man accused of pushing a woman onto train tracks at Richmond Station during peak hour

A man who allegedly endangered a woman's life by pushing her onto train tracks at the start of peak hour has faced court.

Patrick Stewart, 54, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday, charged after the incident at the Richmond train station on July 3.

At the end of a brief hearing, Stewart told the court 'I wish to plead guilty to all offences'.

But magistrate Tim Shocker said 'I cannot deal with that today, talk to (defence lawyer) Mr Boyle', and adjourned the matter to August 7.

Earlier this month, a 64-year-old woman was allegedly pushed onto the tracks at Richmond Station.

She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Stewart faces charges of conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury, reckless conduct causing injury and unlawful assault of a female for the train station incident.

He has also been charged over unrelated incidents, including alleged burglaries, thefts, aggravated burglaries, trespassing, unlawful assault and making threats to kill.

The separate charges are alleged to have occurred at a business on Droop St, Footscray on May 10, a business on Hopkins St, Footscray on June 22 and a hotel on City Road, Southbank at 1.30am on July 4 (aggravated burglary).

Stewart appeared in court by video link on Friday.

Defence lawyer Callan Boyle told the court that Stewart had been in an influenza isolation ward, which delayed receiving and working through disclosure from police.

The magistrate revoked Stewart's bail to the next court appearance in August.
