Cricket star Usman Khawaja reveals the hilarious story behind teammate Mitch Marsh's very rude nickname

  • Marsh will be Australia's captain at T20 World Cup
  • Is commonly known as 'Bison' to his teammates
  • However, he has another, less wholesom nickname

Aussie cricket star Usman Khawaja has revealed the hilarious background story behind teammate Mitch Marsh's very rude nickname.

Khawaja, 37, and Marsh, 32, have played many Tests together for Australia - but the gritty opening batsman was confused when he first heard the all-rounder referred to as 'Titta' instead of his commonly known nickname, 'Bison'.

'I used to bat [in the Sheffield Shield] against Western Australia and Bison [Marsh] would be bowling at me,' Khawaja told Backchat in a clip uploaded to TikTok.

'All his teammates would be saying, "Come on, Titta." I was like, why are they calling Bison that?'

Then, as footage of Marsh's chest jiggling while he bowled was played, Khawaja answered the question.

'He has tried to hide it [... he even wears sports bras and GPS monitors when we are training in the nets.

'Then one day he was running in and I see boing, boing, boing [his chest].

'And I was like, ahhhh that is why they call him Titta.'

Marsh has been a polarising figure for many cricket fans - but now is a key member of the Test XI as well as Australia's T20 captain.

He will look to guide Australia to more silverware when the T20 World Cup begins on June 2, with tournament matches to be staged in the Caribbean and US.

The Aussies will need to hit the ground running - and on Friday, their bowlers were poor as the West Indies plundered 257 from 20 overs in a warm-up game between the two nations in Trinidad.

Meanwhile, cricket legend Ricky Ponting has nominated star batter Travis Head as his pick for leading run-scorer at the T20 World Cup.

'I just think everything he's done, whether it be red-ball or white-ball in the last couple of years, has been of the highest quality,' he said.

'He is playing fearless cricket at the moment.'
