A fantasy football manager had to fulfill an embarrassing forfeit after finishing last in a league of his friends.

The popular game often sees those who struggled penalised and forced to undertake a forfeit at the end of the season.

And Zac Evans, who hails from Leeds, had to get his face plastered on a huge billboard in Manchester after coming bottom of his 31-team league.

The billboard, which had a photo of Evans looking glum, also featured an apology to a list of the other players in the league.

It said: 'I would like to publicly apologise to the below for my pathetic performance,' before it added: 'See you next year lads!'

The 30-year-old, who described his FPL season as 'an absolute catastrophe' told BBC News: 'I thought it would be a good bit of fun at the end of the day and life's a bit boring, so it's a good talking point for the memory book.

'It got to part-way through the season and there were just four of us at the bottom.

'We kind of said, "what's the point in concentrating, what's the point of changing the team?"

'So we said, "let's make a bet".'

The billboard, which is in Trafford Park, Manchester, can be seen from Trafford Road on the side of Victoria Warehouse.

Throughout the difficult campaign, Evans, who is a Spurs fan, had the team name of 'Shock He's Top FC'.

Explaining why his season went so badly, he added: 'I think the lads think it's funny because of my team name, which I've used for three years running.

'There were too many injuries and things getting in the way. There's far too many games in the season now and it's messing up people's fantasy and they only give us two wildcards.'

When pressed on his expectations and hopes for next season, Evans remained optimistic as he claimed he was 'feeling confident'
