Footballer Lea Schuller and sailor Lara Vadlau were in a relationship going into the Games, regularly speaking about their love and sharing snaps of their lives together on social media. They were representing different countries at the Games, with Schuller being from Germany - playing or Bayern Munich and her country - while Vadlau is from Austria. They had hoped to be able to spend some time together in the French capital, but things appear to have gone south quickly, so south that the relationship is now no more.

Manchester United have modernised the player's tunnel at Old Trafford just in time for the beginning of the 2024-25 Premier League season. Graeme Souness has revealed on Daily Mail's 'Everything I Know About Me' podcast that he once threw a pint of beer over one of his former Liverpool team-mates after the pair came to a disagreement in a Dublin nightclub.  During a glittering career, Souness would enjoy the best part of his success with the Reds, winning three European Cups and five English League titles.  The 71-year-old would join the club in 1978 and go on to eventually captain the side returning 55 goals and 40 assists across 358 competitive games.

Noah Lyles, newly crowned as the Olympic champion in the men's 100 metres, came bursting and leaping and prancing out of the tunnel before the start of the 200m final on Thursday night. He windmilled his arms in the air and screamed his brilliance to the crowd and prepared to take the next step in his bid to cement himself as the heir to Usain Bolt. All of 19.46 seconds later, Lyles was trailing in third behind Botswana's first-ever Olympic gold medallist Letsile Tebogo and his fellow American Kenny Bednarek. After collapsing on the track, Lyles wasted no time in telling the world that he had been suffering from Covid for the last three days.

There are five medals up for grabs for Team GB on Friday, with Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Eilish McColgan and Jack Carlin all able to bring home glory for the Brits. On Thursday, Team GB picked up medals in the women's cycling and kite sailing. Emma Finucane powered her way around the track to take bronze in the women's keirin, in what she described was a 'surreal' experience.

Arshad Nadeem, from Pakistan, has smashed the Olympic record in the javelin with a monster throw of 92.97m on his way to victory at the Stade de France. The monumental effort saw him become his country's first medallist in 32 years and their first ever track and field gold medallist on a historic night for Pakistan. Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen had held the javelin record since the 2008 Games but his distance of 90.57m was comprehensively demolished by more than two metres under the lights in Paris tonight. Once the 27-year-old's javelin had sunk into the ground ahead of the boxes denoting the Olympic record, gold was practically guaranteed as he left his competitors floundering in his wake. Silver medallist Neeraj Chopra fell three-and-a-half metres short of his Pakistani rival with the Indian only able to throw a distance of 89.45m.

LeBron James' son Bronny was in attendance during Team USA's stunning comeback victory over Serbia in the men's basketball semifinals.  The 19-year-old watched as his dad - and his all-star teammates - overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter at the 2024 Paris Olympics.  Amid the action on the court, fans noticed Bronny was accompanied by a young woman, who fans identified as Salli Richardson's daughter Parker Whitfield. 

A horrifying high-speed crash at the Olympic velodrome saw three riders suffer nasty injuries in the women's keirin event on Thursday as medics rushed to the scene of the incident. Steffie Van der Peet was attempting to mount a charge on the race leaders, rising higher into the curved track and pedalling hard to gain momentum, only to find herself careering into other riders.

Dutch star Duco Telgenkamp got in rival Danneberg's face afterwards with a shushing gesture, onsetting feisty scenes as Niklas Wellen rushed over to defend his goalkeeper.

Those at the front arrived at 3am and, around seven hours later, New Yorkers were stopping to ask what the wait was for. The line was not for a new video game but to be the first inside a Manchester City pop-up shop.

A Premier League star had an embarrassing moment as they entered the lift following a trip into the pool on their day off. The star lost balance and landed flat on their back, with his towel landing over his face. Fans were quick to make light about his clumsy moment on social media.

MIKE KEEGAN: Close to 100,000 abusive social media messages have been sent to Paris 2024 athletes. Games bosses have deployed artificial intelligence in their war on trolls with more than 1.5million posts screened since the competition began. Of those, around 97,000 - in 35 languages - have been deemed abusive and officials are sifting through them before deciding which should be forwarded to police.
