Dana White has dismissed speculations over a rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway as 'silly talk' and suggested the Irishman had to prove his fitness before returning to the octagon.
McGregor (22-6 MMA) and Holloway (23-6 MMA) fought at featherweight in 2013, with the former winning by unanimous decision.
Holloway improved his UFC record to 19-6 on Saturday, beating Yair Rodriguez (13-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 197 in Las Vegas.

Dana White has ruled out the possibility of a rematch between McGregor and Max Holloway
McGregor, meanwhile, is still recovering from the broken leg he suffered at UFC 264 in July, which he lost to Dustin Poirier.
White said talks of a potential rematch between the two fighters was a moot point until 'Notorious', a former two-division UFC champion, returned to full fitness.
'I don’t know what’s next for Max, but it does make sense to see him and [Alexander] Volkanovski again,' White told reporters after UFC Fight Night 197.
'Conor’s not even – Conor’s still hurt. To even talk about Conor is silly.'

The American is now 23-6 in MMA fights and 19-6 in his UFC career after his win on Saturday
While White may consider a rematch a remote possibility, McGregor appeared to be far eager to get back into the octagon against his former opponent.
In a video posted on his Twitter account, McGregor can be seen pacing up his living room and staring down Holloway through the TV just before the start of UFC Fight Night 197.
Last week, McGregor appeared to call out Michael Chandler and said he was 'down at some stage' to fight the UFC star at some point next year, after the latter lost a bruising bout against Justin Gaethjie.
