Kenneth Branagh returns as Detective Hercule Poirot in A Haunting in Venice... after witnessing a seance held by Michelle Yeoh's character go horribly wrong
The trailer for the film A Haunting in Venice premiered on Wednesday.
The supernatural mystery is based on the an Agatha Christie novel called Hallowe'en Party, released in 1969.
Kenneth Branagh plays Detective Hercule Poirot who attends a séance held by psychic Mrs. Reynolds, played by Michelle Yeoh, at a decaying palazzo in Venice post World War II - which ends up going horribly wrong.
Tina Fey's character Ariadne Oliver convinced the Detective to watch the séance with her to 'spot the con I can't,' because she did not believe in psychics.
'I've seen a million of these so-called psychics. Each one are fake,' Ariadne tells the Detective during a meet up.

'I do not believe in psychics,' he tells her, before she asks him to join her during one as a viewer.
The séance is held for one of the attendees to talk to her dead daughter Alicia.
Mrs. Reynolds tells him: 'Detective, you are here to discredit me but I can talk to the dead.'
'I'd give all I had to hear my daughter's voice,' one of the attendees said at the séance.
'If someone wants to be heard, we are here. Listening,' Mrs. Reynolds says in the séance.
A chandelier breaks and a number of other spooky things occur before Mrs. Reynolds opens her mouth and is heard talking in a young girl's voice the word 'Mama' to the shock of the grieving parent.
'Alicia? What is happening?' the parent says, as the Detective looks on in shock.
Mrs. Reynolds appears to be possessed by the dead child, as she starts spinning in a circle on her chair screaming 'murderer!'

Moments later, a women's body appears to be drowning as chaos unfolds and Ariadne screams in utter terror.
'Somebody's dead,' the Detective proclaims.
'No one shall leave this place until I know who did it,' he adds ominously.
One attendee says 'A ghost killed her.'
'There must be a rational answer for all of this,' the Detective says.

The detective is seen looking closely at a water facet before he is then pushed into a sink full of water and unable to breathe.
It turns out that water was a hallucination but as he lifts his heads up from peering at the faucet he sees a girl with wet hair standing behind him in the mirror, who disappears when he turns around.

'You were saying?' Mrs. Reynolds says.
'Something in this house tried to kill me,' the Detective is heard saying, as Ariadne tells him not to look at her at the culprit - 'we're old friends.'
'Every murderer is someone's old friend,' he says.
Alicia's mom is seen terrified standing in the rain looking at something with a ghostly figure behind her.
'No one shall leave until I found if the living has been killed by the dead,' Detective Poirot added.
He spots a young girl behind a doorway, to which he tells her 'You have been hiding here all this time.'
Ariadne comes up behind him and says, 'Who are you talking to?' turning back around and seeing the girl had disappeared.
Kenneth has starred in three Agatha Christie adapted films as Detective Hercule Poirot: Murder on the Orient Express in 2017, Death of the Nile in 2022 and now A Haunting in Venice.
A Haunting in Venice is set to be released on September 15; it also stars Jamie Dornan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly and Camille Cottin.
