Why Love Island Australia is introducing a tiny, bedside love heart in 2023 - as host Sophie Monk reveals 'fancy' changes to the villa
Love Island Australia has promised fans this year's season will be raunchier than ever.
And producers have introduced a new 'consent' system to keep lusty islanders in check when jumping into bed together.
In a world first, Love Island Australia's villa in Majorca, Spain, will feature a small love-heart shaped 'Consent Heart' button next to every bed this year, allowing couples to announce they are both comfortable with whatever is going on between the sheets.
Speaking to TV Tonight, Executive Producer Alex Mavroidakis from ITV Studios Australia explained that the Consent Heart emits infrared light, meaning it will only be visible to producers and not contestants.
'Only if both buttons are pushed, and if the heart is complete in infrared, are you allowed to kiss, touch, do everything with each other,' he explained.
'If anyone starts kissing or touching each other in bed, producers will physically walk into the bedroom and tell them to switch their Consent Heart on. Only at that point are they both consenting adults and we leave them alone.'
It comes after Nine released a video of Sophie Monk giving a tour of Love Island Australia's Majorca villa.
This year the villa will feature a 'fancy' new fire pit, complete with colourful new pillows and upholstery.

Sophie also took viewers around the outdoor gym.
'The boys tended to use it as an outdoor shower. Let's see how many glistening bottoms we see this year,' she giggled.
She then gave fans a tour of the villa's various hang-out spaces, including the kitchen and the 'secret nook', joking: 'There's more places to have a chat than Chat GPT can handle'.
Love Island Australia premieres on 9Now on October 30.
