Natasha Hamilton launched her first solo single Edge Of Us on Friday after admitting she 'fell out of love with music' and was left feeling 'traumatised' after five 'intense' years with Atomic Kitten.

The singer, 41, joined the girl group with Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon in 1999 before the band split in 2003 following three number-one singles.

Appearing on This Morning on Friday to promote her new single, Natasha revealed she was thrilled to finally be going solo after 'falling out of love' with the music industry.

Speaking to hosts Alison Hammond, 49, and Dermot O'Leary, 51, she announced: 'Edge of Us is out today. I've never been solo,

'Life takes over, I've had five kids and I fell out of love with music, but I found my way back.'

'It would have been a big regret if I hadn't returned to music, it was an itch that needed itching.'

Dermot then pressed Natasha to reveal why she fell out of love with music and she admitted that she was 'traumatised' when the band came to an end.

She admitted: 'I was traumatised. I'd had five intense years with Atomic Kitten and when that came to an end, it was really abrupt. I wasn't too well at the time.'

After the band broke up, she revealed: 'Everyone disappeared. Friends were leaving. I realised who my friends were, people came and went.'

Speaking about why she decided to go solo and come back to the music industry Natasha revealed that lockdown spurred her decision.

She explained: 'I think it was lockdown. When everything was taken away, I thought 'What do I actually want to do' and it was always music. I then met my new manager Ken and he saw the wolf and the passion that I had.'

Atomic Kitten was one of the most popular girl bands of the noughties, however, after five top-ten singles, original member Kerry, 43, quit the band.

She was then replaced by former Precious singer Jenny Frost, 46, as Whole Again reached number one in the UK Singles Chart.

It comes after last year the singer took to Instagram to reveal she had given birth to her fifth child, Kitty Iris, with her husband Charles Gay.

She captioned the sweet image of Charles walking their baby daughter out of the hospital with: 'I cannot put into words how we feel right now. Our family is complete.'

'Kitty Iris Gay - 14/08/23 We couldn’t be any happier. Welcome to the world baby girl'

After the birth of her baby girl, Natasha took to Instagram to share with her followers some snaps of baby daughter Kitty and revealed the birth 'caught her by surprise' as she arrived earlier than expected.

She revealed: 'I was traumatised. I'd had five intense years with Atomic Kitten and when that came to an end, it was really abrupt. I wasn't too well at the time.'

The Whole Again singer shared 'You came into the world over 3 weeks early giving mummy quite the surprise when daddy was working in London! But you held on in there until he got home and from the second we laid eyes on you, we’ve been totally besotted with you.'

'The first few weeks brought us some challenges and quite a few sleepless nights but you’re our little warrior and we are so happy that you are now thriving and growing and pooping like a little trouper!'

Natasha has sons Josh, Harry, and Alfie, and an eight-year-old daughter Ella Rose from a previous relationship.
