Kate Hudson SLAMMED for being latest millionaire celeb to promote $2.5K full-body scan that can test for cancer - as fans say it's not affordable 'for us average folks'

Kate Hudson has been slammed for becoming the latest multimillionaire celebrity to promote a $2,499 full body scan.

The Almost Famous actress, 45, posted an snap on Instagram about her recent MRI scan from Prenuvo, and declaring 'health is wealth' in the caption - before revealing the pricey scan had been gifted.

The star -  worth an estimated $80million wrote: 'Not your average MRI scan. I’m all about proactive healthcare, and @prenuvo provides a comprehensive deep-dive into your health #gifted #healthiswealth.'

However, there is no evidence that Prenuvo's scans, which cost $2,500 and don't take insurance, have any clinical benefit.

Fans quickly took to social media to slam the star for being 'out of touch' with regular US citizens and lambasted her for ignoring the 'rip off' health system in the USA in the 'embarrassing' post.

One follower wrote: 'Right. She says "#healthiswealth" but it's actually #wealthishealth.'

Another penned: 'It’s so thoughtful of a celebrity to taunt healthcare that isn’t affordable to everyone else. This is embarrassing.'

Others wrote: 'Must be nice to just randomly get one like that. My BF needed an MRI but had to cancel when they asked for 1,200 up front in order to be seen. The medical system in America is a rip off.'

'It’s very sad preventative and potentially life saving scans are available to all, just the people who can afford it. Our country makes it very clear that health is only for the wealthy.

'It’s so nice when celebrities promote a save your life advertisement for people that can’t afford 2500.'

'Kate I love you but you’re out of touch with us commoners.'

I would love, love, love the US healthcare system to provide for more imaging. This isn't available to most financially. We have a substantial amount of people uninsured in this nation, and even of those insured, your MD has to really suspect something to anywhere near hope to have it covered. '

Another wrote: 'We all want a full body scan. Love her but this is out of touch. The caption should say wealth is health instead.'

Hudson is far from the only famous face to come under fire for plugging the scan.

Last year Kim Kardashian was slammed for promoting a full-body MRI that experts have called a rip off.

'The Prenuvo full-body scan has the ability to detect cancer and diseases such as aneurysms in its earliest stages, before symptoms arise,' she wrote in her post, which garnered more than 2 million likes.

'It has really saved one of my friends [sic] lives and I just wanted to share.'

'This is not an appropriate screening tool for a multiplicity of human illnesses and potentially emergent conditions,' Dr Stuart Fischer, internal medicine physician in New York, told DailyMail.com

'It's not a screening tool.'

Last month Gwyneth Paltrow went to Prenuvo New York City Cancer & Disease Screening center to undergo the same scan.

The Oscar-winner also shared a snap of herself sitting up on the MRI bed before the scan.

She captioned the photo: 'It's so fascinating to see preventative medicine becoming important to the consumer.

'I, for one, am really curious about @prenuvo's ability to detect many conditions BEFORE symptoms appear.'

There was also a video of Gwyneth being put into the machine.

Lastly she posed in front of the sign at the medical business with the caption: 'Thank you thank you @prenuvo.'

The mission statement on Prenuvo's website reads: 'At Prenuvo, we are on a mission to flip the paradigm from reactive "sick-care" to proactive health care. Our award-winning whole body scan is fast (under 1 hour), safe (MRI has no ionizing radiation), and non-invasive (no contrast).'

Though the health benefits seem like they could be immense, the service is a bit pricey as a whole body scan - which is what Gwyneth had - costs $2,499 for an hour.
