Gabby Logan reveals menopause caused her to have an 'absolute meltdown' where she sat down husband Kenny and twins Reuben and Lois and threatened to move out

Gabby Logan has revealed that menopause caused her to have an 'absolute meltdown' where she sat her family down and threatened to move out.

The sports presenter, 51, married Scottish rugby player Kenny in 2001 and the pair share twins Reuben and Lois, both 18.

But the family's close bond suffered a hiccup in 2020, which set her on the path to realising she was perimenopausal.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Gabby revealed that one morning that year, she 'had this absolute meltdown' over something small, such as one of her children not clearing away breakfast.

She said: 'I sat everybody down and launched into this off-the-cuff "I'm going to get myself a flat in Beaconsfield and move out and let you all just get on with it."'

Gabby admitted her family were horrified by the 'random' announcement, leaving her then-14-year-old twins close to tears.

'That was probably my lowest point, my mini-crisis, it was the time when I was feeling, this is not me and this isn’t how I cope with things,' she said.

Gabby added: 'I expected that things would change physically as you get older, but I wasn't prepared for feeling so unenthused, anxious, snappier and short-tempered.'

She then started on hormone replacement therapy and found a drastic improvement both externally and internally.

In May, Gabby opened up about how she worried her brain fog would cause her to forget people's names and impact her career

Gabby spoke candidly in the interview about going through menopause, saying she found the brain fog the hardest as she had concerns it would affect her job.

However since starting on HRT (hormone replacement therapy), the TV personality said she has seen a real different, which she helps by doing regular exercises for her brain.

The former rhythmic gymnast also lifted the lid on why her 13-year marriage to Scottish rugby star Kenny, 52, has stayed strong.

Gabby looked sensational in an array of striking white and gold ensembles for the Good Housekeeping cover.

She donned two vibrant gold gowns, showing off her impressive figure, while in another snap she sported a white power suit with pearl studs on the arms.

Of her experience with menopause, Gabby said: 'The thing that affected me most was the brain fog.

'Feeling slightly unsure about things was such an unfamiliar feeling – and I thought, "Oh, God, am I going to keep doing my job if I can't recall somebody's name?"

'Fortunately, HRT has been great and I try to do regular exercise for my brain now, whether that's testing myself on remembering numbers or people's names.'

Gabby also said she always carries a piece of paper with her when she's on set, so that she can write down notes to help her remember things.

On having such a long-lasting marriage with Kenny, Gabby said the key is being there to support one another when it gets tough, learning that marriage is a 'team sport'.

She said: 'Sometimes there's going to be a player who needs picking up, and other times they're the star of the game and it's someone else who needs the boost.

'With a marriage, it's the same: you're never walking along the same bit of road at the same time.

'We also never stop working at it. A marriage isn't something you can just leave to be and hope it's all right in 15 years; it needs a bit of assessment.'
