Julie Goodwin reveals the very surprising MasterChef star who would 'absolutely' win Dancing With The Stars: 'A winning machine'

Julie Goodwin has revealed the surprising MasterChef participant who would win Dancing With The Stars.

The celebrity chef, who won the inaugural season of the Channel Ten cooking series in 2009, believes another MasterChef winner could take home the dancing title if they participated.

She said Billie McKay, the winner of seasons seven and fourteen, would be the top contender.

'Billie McKay could win Dancing [With the Stars] absolutely, that girl is a winning machine,' Julie, 53, told Yahoo Lifestyle.

It comes after Julie revealed she will continue Dancing With The Stars despite being forced to postpone her debut due to a 'brutal' injury.

The cookbook author was set to take to the dance floor on Sunday with dance partner Andrey Gorbunov, but was forced to withdraw from round one at last minute.

Just moments before her first performance, Julie sustained a 'sudden' grade two calf muscle tear which 'took her breath away' and left her in agony.

However, Julie told Channel Seven's The Morning Show on Monday she's determined to return to the dance floor.

'Despite being told that I probably should withdraw, I'm going to give it everything I've got, so I don't quit easy,' she said.

'And the beautiful thing about this production is that they've got some marvellous people. They've got the dance doctor in Bondi, who is all over this.

'So I'm getting acupuncture, homeopathic treatment, massage. I'm swimming, I do healing meditations and listen to healing tones in my headphones.

'So, I'm absolutely going hell for leather to get as well as I can in the hope that I can be up and dancing again very soon.'

The recovery time to completely heal from a grade two strain is between three and six weeks, but Julie is believed to be returning to the show in the third episode.

Calf muscle tears occur when the calf is suddenly overstretched and can be caused by quick pivots, jumps or abrupt stops during sports.

The injury came after an intense two-month-long training schedule which saw Julie going to the gym five times a week and swimming three to four times a week.

The moment Julie sustained the agonising strain was shown during Dancing With The Stars' premiere, with the chef appearing in the studio to discuss the accident.

The footage showed Julie screeching in pain as her leg gave out while dancing, before she was shown getting the crushing news in hospital.

'We need you to stay off that calf so we can give you every opportunity to be dancing as quickly as possible,' the health expert advised.

Despite the setback, Julie remained optimistic, telling hosts Sonia Kruger and Dr Chris Brown: 'It's gonna be alright... we're gonna be alright. Bedazzle a moon-boot and away we go.'

Julie has been joined on the 2024 series of Dancing With the Stars by the likes of four-time Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune, model Nadia Bartel and singer Samantha Jade.

SAS Australia's Ant Middleton, AFL legend Shane Crawford and Olympian and former senator Nova Peris will also be strutting their stuff on the dance floor.

Rounding out this year's competitors are comedian Nikki Osborne, Home and Away's James Stewart, Better Homes and Gardens presenter Adam Dovile and chef Hayden Quinn.
