Kesha loses latest round in contract legal battle with Dr. Luke... as NY judge tosses out motion claiming producer 'trying to destroy her financially'
A judge in New York has once again dismissed an attempt by Kesha to free herself from a recording contract with Dr. Luke and Sony.
The Tik Tok singer had sought to amend her original complaint asking the court for relief from the producer she claimed was trying to destroy her financially and who was waging 'a vendetta' against her.
However, Variety reported Tuesday that Judge Shirley Kornreich rejected the motion to amend her complaint after having previously dismissed last year her claim of sexual assault and abuse as grounds for voiding the contract.

Tossed out: Kesha, 30, has lost the latest round in her ongoing legal battle with Dr. Luke as she continues to ask a court to release her from her recording contract with the producer
In her most recent filing, Kesha had claimed that Dr. Luke was trying to 'punish' her for fighting her ground - and had cut off her access to both her finances and bank statements. Her inability to record music outside of her contract also limited her ability to earn a living, she claimed.
It came after Dr. Luke alleged in late January that Kesha is on a 'malicious campaign to destroy' his reputation and career and added a defamation suit against her.
In Tuesday’s ruling, the judge said Kesha could not claim Dr. Luke had breached their agreement since she had also failed to live up to her obligations under the contract.
The ruling also noted, Variety reported, that Dr. Luke’s accountants have calculated that Kesha owes him $1.3 million in royalties, and has not paid him since 2012.

The legal battle between the singer and the producer, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, began in 2014 when he sued the star for failing to make a third album as contracted.
She counter-sued claiming he had abused her verbally and physically for several years and she could no longer work with him.
Dr. Luke has vigorously denied her allegations of psychological abuse and sexual assault and is now currently counter-suing the singer for defamation after claiming she has tarnished his name.
