LOCAL PREPARATION OF HIGH-QUALITY, PERSONALISED NUCLEIC ACID NANOMEDICINES

About us

NANOSPRESSO-NL (website in preparation) is a transformative project aimed at developing technology for the small-scale, decentralized production of personalized nucleic acid nanomedicines, targeting the treatment of rare and orphan diseases. Challenging the traditional large-scale industrial manufacture of treatments, this approach aims at enabling hospital pharmacists to locally prepare these medicines at the bedside, revolutionizing patient-specific treatment. This initiative is driven by a very diverse consortium, bringing together SMEs, industrial partners, RTOs, academic reserachers, clinicians, nano-technology experts, regulatory experts, and pharmacists. Each contributes vital expertise in areas like nanotechnology, microfluidics, biology, medicine, pharmacy, and regulatory sciences, essential for the project's success and translation to the clinic. Coordinated by UMC Nanomedicine, NANOSPRESSO-NL addresses critical societal challenges, aligning with the NWA routes such as 'Personalised Medicine: The Individual at the Centre' and 'The Quantum/Nano-Revolution'. This project underscores a societal mission to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability, particularly in developing countries. NANOSPRESSO-NL, funded by the Netherlands Science Agenda, project number NWA.1389.20.096, represents a collaborative effort towards a more personalized, effective healthcare system.
