Screenwriter Josh Friedman had bumpy ride getting established in Hollywood. He completed a draft for a script of "The Black Dahlia," about the famously unsolved and brutal 1940s murder case, for director David Fincher, but then he had to endure his work being rewritten into a Brian De Palma misfire in 2006. Similarly, his script for "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" for director Jay Roach was taken away and substantially re-written by others. Unlike many unappreciated screenwriters of the past, Friedman has gotten some of his own back on the Internet, where he runs a blog called "I Find Your Lack of Faith Disturbing." His sarcastic comments about being tapped to work on the script for "Snakes on a Plane," which he posted on his blog, actually got incorporated into the finished film itself. In 2005, Friedman was a co-writer on the script for Steven Spielberg's dark adaptation of H.G. Wells's "War of the Worlds," which starred Tom Cruise. Friedman has also been both a writer and a producer for the television series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," which takes place after the events in James Cameron's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day."
