I do feel that it must have been a difficult film to make. How do you portray 127 hours of somebody stuck in a narrow crevice without making the film so short as to not really appreciate the character of Aron Ralston and what he had gone through, nor so long as to make a film where very little happens. I feel that Danny Boyle did an excellent job of directing, and his screenplay with Simon Beaufoy works really well. Invincible Aron Ralston soon realises that he is not invincible and captures what he thinks are his last few days on a video camera. There will be no plot spoiler here, but his escape from certain death is not an easy watch in any way at all. The fact that this is a true story of human endeavour and determination makes this film all the more encapsulating. Had someone made this film as a piece of fiction it would have likely been considered to be far fetched. It really does make you think how you would have coped had you been in the same position. A 90 minute runtime for this film works really well - a good balance between character progression and enough happening to keep your attention.
