Atlas Reviews
Has little credibility and a familiar story that's easy to forget.

Atlas is a futuristic look at the dark possibilities of artificial intelligence.

Jennifer Lopez is better in this movie than you expect her to be.

Jennifer Lopez isn’t able to save this boring and melodramatic movie that feels like a regurgitation of other action/sci-fi flicks of the past.

Hollywood must be really scared of AI when the subject keeps popping up in movies like every single week, and sadly, Atlas itself feels like it is the product of being written by AI itself

It’s an easy film to watch, because so much of it is inconsequential. It’s an even easier film to forget.

AI isn’t all bad – but it’s also not all good. This moral grey area seems to be at the center of Atlas, yet Peyton never has the guts to do anything with it.
Full Review | Original Score: F | Jul 2, 2024
Lopez’s character and the movie itself can’t quite decide if AI is a big bad evil thing or our very best buddy. So it decides to say both things in what seems less a philosophical choice and more the most inoffensive and lucrative one.

Jennifer Lopez, Mark Strong, Simu Liu and Sterling K Brown star in Atlas. A Netflix original that might feel derivative, but still delivers some ridiculous bang for your buck action beats! Dive in!

One can only shrug while witnessing a colossally generic piece of content. [Full Review in Spanish]

[Jennifer Lopez] is working to the ends of her ability, and for no reason because the movie is never going to work.

A narrative -- and much imagery, too -- that's built on much better movies.

Jennifer Lopez, whose considerable star power cauterises the plot holes, and Simu Liu looking well-dressed and menacing, slug it out in this fairly enjoyable AI-versus-human battle

The thing that’s most artificial about this AI thriller is the script.

It’s like if Marvel made a whole movie with Tony Stark inside his armour just talking to Jarvis, but without any witty repartee.

J. Lo may be fighting for the very existence of the human race, but there’s nothing at stake between you and the screen.
Full Review | Jun 7, 2024
This take on an AI-led rebellion smashes together tropes from romantic comedy and science fiction in such a heavy-handed fashion, it feels written by AI.

Another of the streaming service’s bad sci-fi action movies...This save-the-world-from-humanity’s-own-mistakes scenario is played out in pedestrian style despite an infusion of occasional blowsy, but no doubt expensive, CGI action sequences.

The story is just as lazily constructed. It's yet another bland scenario reminiscent of Terminator, where robots take over everything. The only uniqueness is Harlan's endgame. Despite this, the plot is riddled with holes and feels messy overall.

This tense, sci-fi action film is enjoyable, so long as you can suspend disbelief and withstand an overly sentimental final act
