What to Know

Critics Consensus

Harmlessly hokey yet never much more than mediocre, Hocus Pocus is a muddled family-friendly effort that fails to live up to the talents of its impressive cast.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian It is an enjoyable watch and a decent bit of entertainment, although maybe it functions better as a small-screen discovery for its devoted fanbase. Rated: 3/5 Sep 27, 2023 Full Review Susan Wloszczyna USA Today Yes, it's the old teens-warn-the-townfolk-but-no-one-believes-them trick. This time, it's not quite a treat. Sep 29, 2022 Full Review Duane Byrge Hollywood Reporter It's a veritable bagful of box office treats. Jul 16, 2019 Full Review Eve Tushnet Patheos Hocus Pocus walks a fine line, where we get to enjoy witchy glee but also feel real emotions about their victims. Aug 21, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The main premise opens the door to all manner of dark magic and supernatural shenanigans, yet few of them leave any impression at all. Rated: 3/10 Mar 31, 2023 Full Review Daniel Barnes Dare Daniel This sloppily written, egregiously unfunny Halloween comedy about three Stooges-esque witches somehow became a beloved holiday tradition. Michael This movie is always a classic, especially on the big screen. Fantastic acting, good story and as my little girl would say it has a cat. That's all you need. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Ashley it a return of childhood on the big screen Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/21/20 Full Review Michelle Movie was awesome! Disappointed with Cinemark. They refused to take legal tender and were incredibly rude. I don’t plan on ever returning. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/20 Full Review Absenz My mom loves this movie. I just like it. You can watch it. 👍 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Verónica P My favorite Halloween movie, an absolute classic!!!! ICONIC Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Trafalgar L Predictable storyline and an overall campy performance from Midler, Parker and Najimy. Also, the main character is shunned constantly for being pure/untouched. Who's the intended demographic? Because, it definitely is NOT kids.
