Longlegs Reviews

An atypical, eccentric, dark and quite original production, that despite having some flaws, still left me impressed. If you decide to watch it with an open mind, I'm sure you'll enjoy it just as much as Yours Truly. Full review in Spanish.

The movie can be best thought of as a flawed puzzle, where all the pieces do not fit neatly together, but the various elements intrigue. Certainly very disturbing and uncompromising, the picture is consistently involving and not easy to forget.

... To the beat of T. Rex, Perkins has turned Nicolas Cage into the most necessarily uncomfortable villain of contemporary horror cinema. [Full review in Spanish]

Longlegs had great potential but failed to spark anything exciting in its story. The film put much of its creative energy into aesthetics and atmosphere, leaving little left over to save its predictable and surprisingly empty tale.

Nic Cage is in sterling form as a Lynchian nightmare maker in this odd concoction from Oz Perkins. It's often disquieting but not really frightening as its porous narrative only suggests Satan is, ultimately, an ineffectual recruiter.

This structural vagueness which aims to be resolved with a final over-explanation, condemns the potential of a film brilliant in its tone and atmosphere... the portrait of a satanic madman who inoculates evil through a disturbing and demonic Trojan horse.

While Longlegs offers the pleasure of watching a talented artist fire on all cylinders, it never plunges into the realms of genuine faith or anguished skepticism.

Longlegs is immensely atmospheric and disturbing. It isn't a mainstream film though. If you are open to slow burn arty horror, it's worth a watch.

An authentically scary dance with the devil that instantly places Perkins among modern horror’s classiest practitioners.

Longlegs makes for an uncomfortable cinematic experience that tests the nerves - just don't go in expecting a modern masterpiece.

Perkins has crafted a film that creeps under your skin and sticks with you long after the credits roll.

Perkins plants the seeds and lets them grow slowly, always maintaining an air of unease with the promise that everything will become clearer, of course, opting for a brutal approach to violence whenever the scenes require. [Full review in Spanish]

Cage’s performance is, once again, proof that when the guy really puts his back into it, he’s the most arresting actor around.

Osgood Perkins composes a new and polished example of neat and disturbing atmospheric terror. And then there is an immense Cage, of course, transformed into everyone's nightmare. [Full review in Spanish]

There's no way to feel safe with Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage in this thriller by Oz Perkins. [Full review in Spanish]

Longlegs is a superlative film because it makes us feel alone in the world. It shakes the very foundations of modern horror, and returns us to the primal source of everything that scares us.

But on the first watch, it’s difficult to shake the feeling that we’re watching both a celebratory coming-out party for Perkins as a director and empirical proof that his screenwriting requires more polish

Osgood Perkins makes his father Anthony proud by carrying on the family tradition of scares and chills.

Longlegs is aesthetically pleasing and has a promising first act. However, amazing direction and stellar performances can't save it from itself.
