Monkey Man Reviews
This is one of the most unique films I have ever seen. It was able to tell an action-packed story of regret, longing, and revenge that was very good. The action/fighting is very graphic, so this is not for those who get a little squeamish with blood. It is a movie Dev Patel should be very proud of, and it’s one I would love to watch again.
Well choreographed action but too many close up shots which sometimes I experienced burden to eyes. Starting Dev Patel who has written the script, directed and is one of producer of this movie. Movie has brilliant cinematic shots that just go WOW and action shots WOW and Dev Patel Performance WOW. Almost through out the movie, his character had covered screen play and the responsibility was completely on his shoulder. Story I felt slow. Yeah I just think a normal story but from my personal experience, movie is worth it because I really love the cinematography they have presented. They really work hard showing their best creativity in this movie.
Better than it has to be, but still an homage to the idea that a fist fight can solve the world’s problems.
It was meh. Slow, dark and predictable. Charac6er development didnt make much sense. The villian character was not well defined and lack luster. I wouldnt say dont watch, but I wouldnt watch it again.
Amazing directorial debut. I want to see more of Patel as a director and lead Man. Excellent story telling.
Me gustan mucho este estilo de películas, tanta acción y sangre al puro estilo John Wick. Pero a esta siento como que le falto algo a la historia, porque en ocasiones se torna algo aburrida. Pero es una película que no debes pasar desapercibida.
I think you have to be Indian or know of the Indian culture to relate. I like John Wick movies, and watched this whole movie but didn’t couldn’t get positive vibe. Good production though.
I liked the killing scenes so much.
Overly violent. I was initially attracted to the movie due to the references to Hanuman, but not much is made of it. In the end, it's an Indian version of John Wick.
This movie felt like a John Wick movie, but with a more diverse cast and story. Dev Patel did a great job producing, writing, directing, and staring in this movie. I thought the action scenes were great and it plot had good pacing, though I think it could have been a little shorter.
Different... and I liked the result. 'Brabo'!
Prepare for a new legend of vengeance, faith and plenty of bloody carnage! Kid is a street fighter who seeks revenge against corrupt leaders for the destruction of his home, only to realize that his fight is not his own. An emotional storyline along with some intense fight choreography make this revenge-story fascinating while adding a fresh take on the genre!
I saw this in theaters THREE times. This movie instantly became one of my favorites. The music, the outfits, the sets, the different representations, the morality of it all... just incredible. (Vague spoiler ahead) I got goosebumps and cried during the scene when his new friends came to his aid for the final fight. I wish I was articulate so that I could give this movie its proper praise.
The acting, action, and delivery were beautifully executed. The colors and lights were amazing. I was hooked from beginning to end. Kill Bill vibes…
Fantastic. Like John wick, but far better. Amazing directing, acting and music
I love Dev Patel and the cinematography was good but it was a very predictable action movie with little depth.
Lots of action, amazing photography, engaging argument. I highly recomend to see this movie.
This is another instance where the trailer outshines the movie. It’s just too stylish and philosophical for its own good. The first half was great. Second half was tiring. We get it, the bad guys are bad and have done bad things. Now let’s move faster with the backstory and get on with the revenge! It can’t be argued, however, that Dev Patel has charisma.
Absolute PERFECTION! Everything was a masterful… music, choreography of fight scenes, Dev is one of the best actors of all time hands down, the storyline, the cinematography, the directing … it far exceeded any expectations… I haven’t seen a movie this beautifully made since Gladiator
Love these John Wick-esque revenge films. The first half didn't catch my attention too much. But the last half of the film got real good. Love me some well choreographed violence!
