J. R. Jones Chicago Reader You have to wonder about a writer-director who wishes his characters would just shut up. I thought that was my job! Apr 10, 2020 Full Review David Stratton The Australian [A] very witty and affecting family comedy. Nov 30, 2018 Full Review Anthony Lane New Yorker Baumbach's ripest and wisest film to date, alert to the fact that so little in life, especially a screwy or a super-ambitious life, is open to resolution. Oct 23, 2017 Full Review Benedict Seal Vague Visages Ultimately, the great strengths of The Meyerowitz Stories are the performances. Beyond that, Baumbach's crafted an attractive, gently funny family study, but not one that demands to be seen in a theatre. Dec 5, 2023 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a slapdash narrative that grows less and less involving as it unfolds. Rated: 1.5/4 Jun 24, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The Meyerowitz Stories stands among Baumbach's best work to date. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 17, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Peter H As with “Marriage Story” and “Frances Ha,” Baumbach showcases his nonpareil savvy for exhibiting truths of human nature within everyday simplicity and pugnacious family dynamics. The purity of his screenplays consistently seems to get the best out of his actors too: Sandler, Stiller and Hoffman all give some of their best work here. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review T H Too chaotic and too much talking. Great actors - poor movie! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Marco A It's really difficult to understand why this movie was ever produced. For the sake of the actors, why have they decided to play a part in such a boring movie I don't really know. Comedy, is it? Drama, is it? For 90% or the movie I hoped the TV would break. Atrocious time in front of the TV. Good acting doesn't hide the uselessness of this movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Daniel G The intense, witty, sincere, realistic and smart dialogues were both the highlight and the pitfall of this movie - there was just too much of it. Also, given that 2 of the protagonists are such well-known comedians (Stiller and Sandler), it was almost as if there should have been a comedy where there was a veritable family drama. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Alec B Not exactly new territory for Baumbach but I appreciate that while his character remain insufferable, his own cruelty as a writer seems to have subsided. We see this family as deeply flawed people not simply monsters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review M O OMG!!! I watched 2/3s of the film and had to stop! My ears are burning of so much talk!! Made me soooo tired! 🥱 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
