What to Know

Critics Consensus

Much like a preservative-packed toaster pastry, Unfrosted is sweet and colorful, yet it's ultimately an empty experience that may leave the consumer feeling pangs of regret.

Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Jerry Seinfeld’s debut as a feature film writer and director is a mess. His breakfast pastry-themed 1960s farce plays like he shot every idea he had and made it into a 93-minute movie, regardless of whether they worked together or were particularly funny. May 16, 2024 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Unfrosted is silly and dumb, but it’s meant to be silly and dumb. You don’t expect it to take anything seriously and it really, really doesn’t. Rated: 3/5 May 15, 2024 Full Review Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) There's a lot of not terribly funny jokes in this film. A lot of hit and miss, sort of like a Saturday Night Live show where three-out-of-five jokes are vaguely funny and the other two aren't. May 13, 2024 Full Review Nelson Acosta Koimoi Unfrosted feels like a movie no one really asked for, and in many ways, it is precisely that. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 3, 2024 Full Review Ruth Maramis FlixChatter Film Blog The jokes aren’t funny, and the cartoonish characters are mostly annoying. It feels like extended Seinfeld bits or SNL skits that don’t quite land. A total waste of all-star-cast. Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 2, 2024 Full Review Mikel Zorrilla Espinof One thing 'Unfrosted' suffers from is the lack of spark needed to make what may be more or less witty on paper work on screen (Full Review in Spanish). Barbra M I thought the movie was hysterical! Entertaining story telling, all star cast, an insurrection. Some laugh out loud things. I'm telling everyone to watch it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/13/24 Full Review Chase D Hilarious must-see. It’s a comedy, not a documentary. The artistic liberty is truly fantastic. The cast is stunning. I couldn’t ask for a more light & cheerful film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review William C Jerry, what have you done? This is so subpar for you. It doesn't work on so many levels. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Tito U If you're over 60 and love the kitsch from your childhood (and Seinfeld) you won't stop laughing. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review Giovanni P Brilliant comedy - silly and demential, just how it means to be. Anyone taking this overly serious just does not realize this slapstick epitome of American pop (tart) culture is bound to become a cult for the ages. See you all in 15 years. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Blobbo X Colorful and benign and okay for a sleepy Sunday afternoon, maybe for granddad and sweet little grandkids, ages 3 and 7.
