When You Finish Saving the World Reviews

Jul 12, 2024

off the bat, this movie was okay, but comparing these movies to other movies finn has been in are a lot better than this one, I feel like the plot isn’t a very entertaining one, it’s just kind of a semi normal teenage life, I guess. I do understand finn is a sort of new director, but I’m hoping his films and short stories can get better here on out.

I love this movie it's so good to watch when you have similar family situations. The actors did really good however, the girl ziggy liked made me want to turn off the tv every single time she came on the screen. Having to sit through any of her and her friends scenes like the poem was horrible…. Other than her the movie is great

Quirky upper middle class family film, with exceptional performance from Finn Wolfhard as Ziggy Kratz. Good screenplay & direction from Jessie Eisenberg. Something missing in the mother (very good performance by Julianne Moore) son dynamic/relationship that leaves the movie just a little but beneath its full potential.

This movie really had no rhyme or reason. Everything in between was boring and nothing really happened. There were some key moments but they were few and far between. I will say that the ending was good. But, If I had paid to see this movie in theaters I'd be really upset.

Aesthetic and music wise it was cool and different but there were a lot of plot holes/things left unsolved. It was also I a bit boring imo. I've heard the audio book is good though

Probably laughed more than I was supposed to. The miserable lives of a Far Left household. Mother and son seemingly only come together because the strange circumstances they're put in don't go right, not because they develop anything together. There's promise here, but ultimately it shows there's a lot of work to do.

This movie was painful to sit through. There is nothing wrong with a film that is slow paced but this was almost not moving. I do like Jessie Eisenberg as an actor, but (as someone who has been writing for over 35+ years) I have no idea WTF he was thinking. The writting was all over the place and this was not a very good first feature directorial debut.

Don't understand the hate, it was so good

The movie has an important message, "change as a person", it's good to be reminded of that. It feels very simple and without messages between the lines, but that is the intention. In addition, its music and charming rhythm will help you forget those defects.

Interesting complex characters but I've seen similar stories like this one.

a good drama untrainwreck

Self-absorbed liberal mom and disconnected snotty son going through parallel selfish seasons of life. Mom (Moore) finds self worth in "helping others" while her son (Wolfhard) is just trying to be liked.

I rate this -ve score.. If someone argues, there cannot be any movies unwatchable them this.

I thought it was ok . i did enjoy the music .Julianne Moore &Finn Wolfhard were the best part of the film

There are interesting elemental themes here: the noise of everyone talking at once, the disingenuous caretakers bored at their own limitations, the narcissism of parallel conversations, and the "safety" behind money and education. The true portrait here is disaster, yet somehow—the first miracle of the film— is that mom and son are suddenly struck with conscience at the end of this QUAINT story. The acting is excellent but the potential of this project was frittered away by the mandate to have a happy ending. I'm sure that teens will be "lifted" and adults will be rejoined in 60s-style community at the esoteric "hope" that was generated by this parochial education bit.

The movie never really went anywhere. It was the tale of a mom and son drifting apart, that's pretty much it. The son is a total self absorbed Gen Z kid, looking to make a name for himself as a singer. The Mom is totally aloof and married to her job. They each fill the void they feel with something. The son fills his void by trying to win over the girl of his dreams with his music. The Mom fills her void by befriending a boy (her sons age) at her shelter and treating him like a son. I'm sure you can guess what happens at the end. Everything is just so dull in this movie. The acting isn't great at all. Finn Wolfhard is okay in Stranger Things, but not here. In all honesty, I don't think he's a good actor. He isn't likable. Julianne Moore is capable of better. All in all, I would say to skip this movie. It's so dull and just not worth watching. If you must watch, don't say I didn't warn you. This gets a LennyReviewz Score of: 3/10

I give this movie 3 stars. It felt very awkward which I did not like, it felt like a male version of Lady Bird but it kinda failed. My positives are that the pacing is good, good cinematography, and it has good acting. That was pretty much it but i still recommend you to go watch this maybe you'll like it or not.
