Vera Bradley has entered a new era.
The brand, which was a staple of the early aughts and is known for its colorful quilted accessories, just launched its rebrand and "full transformation" in an effort to reinvigorate the brand and appeal to modern shoppers.
So what exactly is different? Well, there's a new logo, an updated social media presence and a new collection featuring totes, shoulder bags, crossbody bags and more. And don't worry, there are still plenty of those patterned quilted duffels that have come to define the brand.
“We are strategically marketing our distinctive and unique position as a beloved brand that connects with our core customer on a deep, emotional level," Vera Bradley’s chief marketing officer Alison Hiatt shared in a press release. "At one point in her life, she had a Vera Bradley bag — maybe it’s saved in her closet, or maybe she’s passed it down to the next generation — but we’re ready to be part of her life again, and meet her where she is today. We hope this fresh take on Vera Bradley not only fits into her life seamlessly, but also delights her as she cultivates the unique sense of style that makes her so damned interesting, as we like to say.”
To help debut its new look, Vera Bradley tapped actress Zooey Deschanel to star in its campaign. In the release, Deschanel shared her appreciation for the brand, saying that the "patterns and colors make the brand fun to wear" and the new collection has "a bag to match every mood, activity, and outfit."
Along with expanded and redesigned bag silhouettes, Vera Bradley is also upgrading some of its materials, moving from cotton to cotton gabardine (which the brand says is soft, smooth and more durable), and using textiles like oxford canvas, genuine full-grain leather and more.
